Winter 2010

This quarter is geared towards getting ready for summer internships. We'll be having resume workshops, speakers from companies looking to hire for the summer and a career fair where you'll get to meet more companies and make contacts.
General Meetings
  1. Resume Workshop w/Guest from Career Center
  2. Wed 1/20/10 ETA210 - Guest Speaker from JPL Education Department to speak about opportunities and requirements for summer internships.
  3. Progrest Prep: Problem Testing
Events
  1. Shakey's Night Thurs 1/14/2010, 6-9PM- A social event/fundraiser at Shakey's on Valley/Fremont in Alhambra where we can get together with friends and have a good time.
  2. Game Night - A social event/fundraiser held in the USU where we can get together with friends and have fun.
  3. JPL Tour - after our meeting with the JPL recruiter, those who are interested in applying there or just seeing the facility will go on a tour of the lab to learn more about what goes on there.
  4. Progfest - Our ACM student chapter hosts a programming competition where we invite neighboring high schools and community colleges to come and compete. This is an opportunity to get new students interested in CSULA and our ACM Student Chapter.
  5. ECST Career Fair - A career fair held in the USU, put on by the Dean of the ECST, strictly for engineering, computer science and technology students.
Projects
  1. ECST Website Project - A project designed to create a community website for the ECST Clubs. The clubs range from professional organizations to school projects and teams. The site will allow a club or team to register and create a professional looking page with a sophisticated backend and content management system.
  2. Super Computing Cluster/Network - A small group of students are looking into designing a campus-wide super-computing network for research teams to use and students who are interested in clusters and computing networks to gain experience.
